Why I'm choosing to hibernate this January

Last January, I spent most of the month beating myself up.

… For not "hitting the year running"...

… For not getting in enough calls with prospective clients...

… For not posting enough on social media (especially when I always read such brilliant articles by my lovely fellow coaches in the New Year, so end up negatively comparing myself the whole month!)

… For not organising something really exciting for my partner and son's birthdays (both in January and actually both on the same day, which for some reason makes me feel extra pressured.)

At the end of this month of self-flagellation, I swore to myself that from now on, I would take a very different approach to January.

From now on, I would stop pushing myself and see it as a time of hibernation... of rest and reflection... taking stock on the year just gone... taking the time to learn and read.

This starts today, as I sit down with a nice coffee and my copy of the Year Compass (https://lnkd.in/eCKRViu6), which I always find a brilliant way to deeply and systematically reflect on the year just gone and what you want to bring in for the coming year.

I also listened to an inspiring #hellomonday interview with Jessi Hempel and Octavia Raheem on the topic of rest, which couldn't have come at a better time (link in the comments for anyone who feels called to this too).

(Of course, I also took the time to write this post, but this genuinely felt like a pull not a push!)

How are you all feeling January this year?
