My best job ever

I’ve been leading the Career Change Launch Pad for Careershifters for over eight years now, and it still has the capacity to delight and surprise me. It’s an honour to play any small role in supporting people to transform their lives, and feels deeply meaningful to be exploring how we spend our short time on this planet. It’s also bloody good fun!

Things I’m learning about career change from our latest cohort..

  • The shared experience is a huge accelerator. When people with similar challenges team up, they’re far greater than the sum of their parts.

  • Courage isn’t about a lack of fear. It’s about feeling the fear and doing it anyway.

  • That uncomfortable feeling at the pit of your stomach isn’t a sign you’re doing something wrong. It’s a sign you’re acting on the fringes of your comfort zone (and that’s where the magic happens!)

  • We spend too much time in our heads, and not enough time neck down. When we learn to tune into and understand our physical reactions, we can’t go wrong: the body doesn’t lie.

  • People are AMAZING. They have a natural inclination to want to help each other and to make a positive impact on the world.

  • Career change isn’t easy, AND it is possible. By getting outside our “reality bubble” and stretching ourselves in new ways, we can discover possibilities we never knew existed and do things we never knew we could.

What have you learned from the best jobs you’ve ever done??
